Tea serving of maikos to the audience before the performance
During April, miyako-odori, cherry dancing of maikos and geishas is performed at a theater in Gion, Kyoto. The performance is very popular in Kyoto. Before the performance maikos serves some tea for audience.

I have had the pleasure of attending the April maiko show a couple of times - a very Japanese experience for Westerners. When the lights go down and we hear the shamisen, we know we are in a very different culture. The tea ceremony in your photo shows the beautiful kimonos and geisha style - but they move you in and out so fast!
