Katsura Imperial Villa, Kyoto sightseeing
This is outside of a buliding in Katsura Imperial Villa and a space for washing dish for tea ceremony. It is not in use now.

The bamboo's joints and the grain was used as a part of designing.

Again fine new knowledge, thanks!

I am wondering now, these bamboos, are in Japan still plenty of bamboos growing. I think, pandas and bamboos have got difficulties nowadays even in China :)

hee hee...great photo! and i know even in some parts of China, esp. some inner parts of the country, people still use the bamboo as the facility to carry water or something else.
and as minmu mentioned about Pandas and bamboos, no worry, the government put much more efforts on the environment of Panda. We still could see the lovely pandas, and lots of bamboos!
