Sacred gates

Fujimi-inari Shrine, Kyoto sightseeing
This picture is continuous gates, called Torii. People donate to build these gates. This gate, Torii, means an entrance to a living place of Gods of Shinto. So passing through the gate means something special and sacred.

Perhaps some people happen to have seen this scenery because this is one of the shooting places of the movie, memoirs of a Geisha.

Saw the movie, but don't remember seeing these gates. Seemed most scenes in the movie were taken after midnight under candle light. :-) Anyway, I am also curious...where do these gates take to? Wonderful photo!

Actually, the path leads to the little hill and it circulates in the hill. So people are just to pass through the continuous gates. It is a little scared to walk around in the evening.
